Dr. David Hampton

David is a biomedical research scientist and expat entrepreneur in medical device innovation and global business development. He founded Dutch consultancy Stone Bridge Biomedical BV to foster Physician-partnered innovation: this led to two successful medtech startups: Camstent Ltd (antimicrobial coatings to prevent hospital acquired infections) and Acacia Designs BV (surgical monitoring of neuromuscular blockade), the latter acquired by Senzime AB. He currently focuses on machine learning components for remote monitoring of neurology and cardiology patients, holding over 30 granted patents.

David is an active investor and non-executive director, guiding innovative medical device startups. He was previously an elected Fellow at Medtronic’s Bakken Research Center, and Research Director at Physio-Control Corp in Seattle. His academic background includes bioscience business degrees from Cambridge and Stanford, and a PhD in biomedical signal processing from Northwestern University, and he currently teaches medical device development as a Senior Associate at the University of Cambridge.
